VERN RUTSALA lives in Portland, Oregon, where he is a professor of English at Lewis and Clark College. Earlier collections of his poetry include The Window, Laments, The Journey Begins, Paragraphs, Walking Home from the Icehouse, and Backtracking. He has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. He is married and has three children, Matthew, David, and Kirsten.
