JAY MEEK is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Syracuse University. The Memphis Letters, his seventh book from Carnegie Mellon University Press, follows the publication of Headlands: New and Selected Poems (1997). He has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Bush Foundation, and the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. His poems have appeared in numerous journals, and he has co-edited several collections, including After the Storm: Poems on the Persian Gulf War. He teaches at the University of North Dakota.
