A poetics of literal survival merged into and defiant of the mundane

Carmelia Leonte’s voice, sharp and beautifully quirky, strikes singular notes in the Romanian and Eastern European poetic landscape.

CARMELIA LEONTE is the author of four volumes of poetry, a collection of travel writing, a children’s book, and numerous other essays. She lives in the city of Iasi, in northern Romania, and works as editor for the Press of Literary Museums. MIHAELA MOSCALIUC is the author of Father Dirt (2010), and the recipient of a 2011 Glenna Luschei Prairie Schooner Award and a 2012 Artist Fellowship Award from the New Jersey Arts Council. She is Assistant Professor of English at Monmouth University and in the low-residency M.F.A. Program at Drew University.
