From the Book:

A Visit to the Cathedral

After the sudden hush and cool
as the doors close,

after we inch into the north aisle
as though into a held breath,

after we cluster like bees around
the jeweled splinter of the True Cross,

I see another nave envelop the nave,
immense, borne up

by the buttresses and corss-ribbed vaults
of what you said to me just now.
