Skinny Dipping with Loons weaves a tapestry of warm, personal, humorous stories and musings about the connections and ties that bind us to one another: the moments and memories that form the narrative of our lives. Through a memoir style of storytelling vignettes, Burke hopes to inspire readers to tell their own stories. For all of us life is complicated, mysterious, and surprising enough: you don’t have to make it up.

“The genius of these short vignettes is the way that each taps the very powerful emotional undercurrents of everyday events. Run-ins with teenage children, crazy college road-trips, taking a summer drive with an aging friend—all of this book’s truest observations of human nature spring from the seemingly commonplace, situations we have all experienced before. How does Skinny Dipping with Loons manage then to surprise and delight the reader so completely? One secret: all good writers lay bare her own at the selfsame moment. A genuinely nourishing experience for the soul.”—Philip Baruth, author of The X President and The Brothers Boswell
