HBI Series on Jewish Women
Series Editors: Shulamit Reinharz, Sylvia Barack Fishman

The HBI Series on Jewish Women is an innovative book series developed by the Hadassah-Brandeis Institute [HBI]. Established at Brandeis University in 1997 [as the Hadassah International Research Institute on Jewish Women], the HBI was initiated and is sponsored by Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America. The HBI is the central location for scholars to address issues facing Jewish women in the US, Israel and all countries in which Jews reside. International and interdisciplinary in scope, the Institute’s research agenda is broad, scholarly, and applied.

Books published in the HBI Series on Jewish Women will fill a major gap in Jewish life and letters by illuminating challenges to and achievements of Jewish women throughout history. In keeping with the HBI’s unique mission, the series editors will publish books on a wide range of topics appropriate for both scholarly audiences and the educated public.
