"I love Thom Ward’s poems—they’re smart, wacky and deadly serious. It’s as if he has a pair of magic glasses through which he sees a world none of the rest of us can quite see. And—this is not an “as if”—he also has a magic ear. "—Thomas Lux

"With an unerring instinct for the surreal in every reality, Thom Ward sweeps us into one man’s ordinary world made extraordinary because of the elasticity of his vision and the effortlessness of his art. Fresh, funny, tough, and true, Ward is a poet who can both poke you in the ribs and take you by the hand. Ultimately, it is the lens of love he looks through. "—Molly Peacock

"Keenly observant and often astonished, Thom Ward takes us through various orbits of experience in his fine new book of poems filled with heart knowledge. How imaginatively Ward sifts through what is lonely and particular, what is strikingly common, in search of something as difficult to attain as justice and as necessary and humane as mercy."—Edward Hirsch

THOM WARD’s two previous collections of poems are Small Boat with Oars of Different Size (Carnegie Mellon) and Tumblekid, winner of the 1998 Devil’s Millhopper Poetry Contest (University of South Carolina-Aiken). Editor/Development Director for BOA Editions, Ltd., Ward also teaches creative writing workshops in elementary and high schools and through the Writers & Books Literary Center. He lives with his wife and three children in Upstate New York.
